Costa Rica is 1-2 hours from every US time zone. That changes everything.

Most nearshore pitches start with cost savings. Ours starts here: when your developer is in Costa Rica and you're in New York, Chicago, or Denver, you're on the same call at the same time. No 6am standups. No 14-hour feedback loops. You write in Slack at 10am, you get a reply before lunch.

That sounds small. It isn't. Every agency in India or Eastern Europe will say "we make time zones work." In practice, someone on their end is exhausted, or your questions sit unanswered for 8 hours. Costa Rica runs on Central Standard Time (GMT-6), year round. No daylight saving changes. One to two hours from EST, CST, and MST.

Costa Rica has about 150,000 IT professionals. Small country, outsized output. Intel, Amazon, Microsoft, IBM, and Oracle all run R&D operations here. They came for the talent and the stability. Around 12,000 new STEM graduates enter the workforce each year from universities like UCR, TEC, and ULACIT.

The World Economic Forum ranks Costa Rica among the top Latin American countries for technological readiness. English proficiency is high. Most developers here learned it in school and use it daily with US clients.

We mention this not as a geography lesson. It matters for your project. You're not hiring from a thin market. You're tapping the same talent pool Intel and Amazon have been developing for decades.

Direct: hiring developers in Costa Rica costs 30-50% less than in the US. A senior React developer here earns well by local standards, and it's still significantly less than San Francisco or New York rates.

But cost isn't why you should pick us. Cheap agencies are everywhere. We've seen what happens when you go with the lowest bidder. We've been hired to fix those projects. What you're paying for is quality work at a reasonable price, from people who are awake when you are.

Why 5e

Costa Rica doesn't have the biggest pool. Mexico and India are much larger. But for a US company that needs a small, quality team in a similar time zone with strong English and no geopolitical risk, it's hard to beat.

  • We're not a body shop. No bench of 200 developers waiting. We're a tight team that knows each other, works well together, and has been shipping projects for 11 years. You're not getting randomly assembled contractors.
  • We do design and development. Most nearshore agencies are dev only. You still need a designer and someone to manage the handoff. We do both. Same team, same Figma file, same Slack channel.
  • We keep clients. Ongoing retainers, many running for years. We don't vanish after launch.
  • We've worked with US SaaS companies for years. 1-800Accountant, Footprint, Decimal/Mind.io, Bang The Book, B2B SaaS Reviews. We know how product teams work, what sprint ceremonies look like, how to plug into your existing tools.
